Type Locality and Naming
In the Semizsalpa coal mine, Pistalitau Mountains, northern foothills of the N. Nuratau Range. O.I. Sergun'kova, 1959 (382, table 5; 441, p. 394).
Synonym: Semizsalpinskaya Suite, Семизалпинская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Alternation of massive and thick-bedded gray and light-gray limestones. Limestones are predominantly aphantic, oolitic, pseudooolitic, and less frequently detrital. At the base of the formation, there is a package of dark-gray, thin-bedded, bituminous limestones with gastropod remains. Thickness 1400m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Stratigraphically conformable with (on) the limestones of the Kolsuyuk Fm
Upper contact
It is overlain by the Tabakbulak Fm (Cherkashenko et al., 1983).
Regional extent
Northern foothills of the northern Nuratau range, locally in the central part of the Pistalitau Mountains.

In the lower part of the section, Famennian foraminifers - Parathurammina cf. suleimanovi Lip., P. cf. cushmani minimaAntr., Septoglomospiranella cf. nana Reitl., Bisphaera cf. elongata Pojark. and others; brachiopods - Cyrtospirifer vernuili Murch., C. archiaci Murch.; conodonts Apatognathus varians B. et M., Polygnathus sp., Icriodes sp. of Famennian age. Higher up - early Tournaisian foraminifers - Vicinosphaera squalida Antr., Grierosphaeroicus simplexReitl. and others; brachiopods - Phytiophora temirensis (Serg.), P. temirensis f. angusta (Serg.), Schellwienella planumbona Weller. and others; conodonts - Bispathodus sp., Pseudopolygnathus cf. dentilineatus and others.
